allydd 0 Posted February 21, 2009 I had a fill on Tuesday and my band was way too tight. I started vomiting up foam and absolutely could not get any Water or other liquids down. I called my doctor early Wednesday morning and they got me in right away. They took out .5cc's (they had originally added 1cc) and I felt immediate relief. But I knew that my esophagus and pouch were going to be very irritated due to the band being that tight. I've been very careful to eat only Soup the last couple of days but I've started experiencing some severe pain in my chest after I eat or drink. Its like an intense gas pressure and I'm having a hard time burping. I have to literally push on my stomach or gag myself in order to burp and get relief. Occasionally, I'll have some liquid or food come back up after the burp. I'm concerned that I need to go back and have more more cc's taken out. Its getting better but its a slow process. It takes me 2-3 hours to drink a glass of Water bc the pain is so intense and I have to burp after every sip. Its the same with food.< /p> Is this normal? Do I just need to wait the irritation out or is this something different than my esophagus and pouch being inflamed?
nomebug 0 Posted February 21, 2009 I have not been banded, but I am going through nursing school right now and I would have to say that doesn't sound right and I would get back into the doctor, you don't want to get dehydrated. How long have you been banded? Have you lost much weight? I hope you get better and keep losing the weight. :tt2:
TQUAD64 9 Posted February 21, 2009 No this is not normal and it sounds like you need to a more fill removed. I would not wait.
kiz 1 Posted February 21, 2009 I agree with nomebug and tquad. This isn't normal, and if you continue to aggravate the area, I would think it's likely that you'll cause more swelling. I'd call my doctor right away, if it were me, and ask his opinion. My guess is he'll want to take more Fluid out. This is one of those "a stitch in time, saves nine" situations. allydd 0 Posted February 22, 2009 Thanks for all of the advice. I'm considering going back to have some fill taken out on Monday but the problem has actually gotten much better in the last 24 hours. Once I was able to get a Protein Shake down, I didn't have any more problems with the gas or pain. In fact, I was able to eat about 2 cups of chili last night and then some frozen yogurt with no pain whatsoever. So far today I've had a Protein shake for Breakfast and then a scrambled egg and two pieces of bacon and have had no problems. But if I experience anymore of that earlier pain that I'm definitely going back to the doctor. I can't live like that.

This is the first problem that I've ever really had a problem with a fill. I'm doing much better now. I've drank about 72 oz of Water today in order to rehydrate myself. Thanks so much for your response. If the problem pops back up again then I will immediately head back to the doctor. Don't want to experience that again at all! Are you thinking of getting banded? If so, good luck with your surgery!
jillrenee15 0 Posted February 23, 2009 (edited) My doctor told me somewhere around 6-7cc is where most people feel they are in a good spot, after that as they lose weight, a tiny fill will go a long way. .25-.5cc. I was up there at 6.5, went for a little fill and ended up having 1.25 taken out the next day after being way too tight. You were probably swollen a little from the fill and it took a couple of days to calm down. On your next fill, if you get one, a teeny bit will probably do it. And you may not need another one now for several months until you have lost a bunch of weight. Good luck on your weight loss!!!!
