Anyone get flu since being banded?

Recommended Posts

I was banded in October and last night I was up ALL night with the flu. I did not go to the ER and have my saline removed (maybe I should have and fortunately I didn't do any damage) but I'm curious if anyone else has gotten sick and what they did?

Sory to hear your ill. I have not had the flu while banded. But my nurse said she did last year and the policy at my doctors office is: call them right away. They will schedule you off hours, have a spouse drive you and they will unfill you immediately. After you have recovered, they will refill you.

Hope you feel better soon!

I had the stomach flu about two weeks ago and ended up at the emergency room due to dehydration. Because of my band, I had them check for slippage, and the did a CT Scan. Supposedly, all was fine, but ever since, I've had difficulty eating solids without throwing them up. Something definitely feels different, but I have moved away from where I had my original surgery, and I don't really have the money to get it checked out. Insurance doesn't cover fills. I just don't know if I'm still swollen and keep aggravating it by trying to eat. :tt2:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
