Got the munchies??

Recommended Posts

Just a question I just had a fill last wednesday and I've been noticing ever since I've been getting the munchies.I do have some restriction not as good as the first 2 months and I will feel it if I overdue it.But if I'm at proper restriction should I still find myself wanting to munch??Or even with proper restriction do we still have to battle urges like this, like before surgery??:cursing:Any advice.......feeling a little frustrated!!

BTW I just started back on birth control this month so I dont know if that could have anything to do with these "new" cravings?

I would be willing to bet that yes, being back on bc could be triggering the munchies. Just like those TOM hormonal changes can do the same.

Unfortunately, the munchies are almost always head hunger, which the band doesn't really help with, regardless of restriction. Get yourself away from food, do something to really distract yourself and take your attention elsewhere. The munchies will pass, but if you dwell on them, they'll get worse. (I'm speaking strictly from my own experience here:smile:)

Some people do report that their head hunger is not so bad after surgery, but I still encounter it. What HAS changed is my ability to deal with it, and put it in it's place. Be patient with yourself, try not to get frustrated - you'll be the victor!

Thanks Misty!!

Those were awesome words of encouragement. You know how sometimes you already know the truth but hearing someone else tell you reconfirms!! Thanks. So hard as a new "bandster" to not get discouraged and I keep waiting for this to fail me like all my other diet attempts!!:tt2:

I'm glad my post helped. :tt2: Discouragements will come, but just look! You've already lost half of your excess weight! You are doing awesome!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
