Huntsville trip 2009

Recommended Posts

I thought Judy, Laura and Carson were sleeping together in a room? Did I dream that or isn't that what was talked about?

See Michelle's email about the shopping list about stuff. I will need to go to the store for sure. Laura, do you have oregeno, basil, italian seasoning??? I can buy the rest, but don't think I want to but the seasonings in a baggie and fly w/ 'em...might look like something else.

We could do margaritas on the rocks and then do pineapple juice and malibu rum. That way we don't need a blender... What do you think??

And yes, Terry, let's me and you do Mexican night. Some really good guacamole and some carne asada tostadas? Do they have a grill?

Since I don't cook, maybe I can be in charge of breakfasts? I can bring some Fiber one pop tarts or whatever you guys want. Or I can buy an assortment of muffins at Sams or a plethera of morning foods.

Well, I think it's not nice for me & Carson to share with someone, because that will mean they don't get a good nights sleep the whole trip... on the other hand since I'm not paying for the house, I don't feel like we should have our own room. So that's my stance on either way.

So I honestly will go with whatever ya'll want; I don't care one way or another (except please don't put me with a snorer!!) We had to kick my dog out of the bedroom, when I finally have a chance to sleep her snoring keeps me up and I never get to sleep lol.

I have basil & oregeno I can bring.. what is 'italian seasonings' though (I thought basil & oregeno were italian!)? Is that something in a shaker I can buy?

Judy, there's a "restuarant guide" on the list, so there must be some restaurants!

Because everyone's eating styles/tastes are so different, I kinda thought that we'd do our own things for b'fast & lunch... then try to coordinate dinners... that was the approach I was working with... but I am not married to it. For instance, personally, altho I will be on a more "relaxed" food plan for the weekend, I still would like to try to eat healthfully when I can (gives me more cals for drinkie-poos!) Thoughts?

Sounds good to me. And we can have 3 'teams' to cook 3 nights, and we'll go out one.... how's that? Or cook 2 nights and go out 2. I don't care!

Three teams, three nights sounds fun!

And I agree on a free for all Breakfast and lunch. Everyone has different restriction levels during the day...

Please go to the Google doc and look at how I've arranged the rides. Is this OK with everyone?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
