sugar free alternatives for pre op diet

Recommended Posts

I go to my appointment next week and i will discuss this with the Dr. also.

i thought i would get ideas from people here also.

I will have to go on a 5 day liquid diet (not sure exactly what that will be, i will find out at my appointment).

from what i have read, most that have gone on a liguid diet have used a lot of sugar free products.

I cannot have ANY artificial sugars, including splenda and stevia (sp?). it all gives me Migraines.< /p>

are there other things that i can have? would real fruit bars be ok?

even low-fat/no fat yogurts that have no artificial sugar has a lot of sugar (32 or 33 per 8 oz for the kind i normally buy).

i want to do well at the pre op (and of course the post op) diets but want to prepare myself ahead of time with choices. i don't want to have the same things all day long for who knows how many WEEKS. that will get old and Harder to make it through the liquid/mushy days!

any ideas?! thanks!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
