My hubby has his done tomorrow!!!!

Recommended Posts

Heading out from home in about 30 minutes. Checking into a motel to be there bright and early in the morning. I'm so excited for him to finally get this done.

Maybe I'll have mine done in a couple weeks. I sure hope so. I'm so jealous!

it is wonderful to have the band together!

My hubby will have his two years this May and I waited patiently for mine, finally banded 10/13/2008. We constantly push each other and support each other. It's nice to know when he's at the table and looks at me with that look, I know how he feels, I know what's going on. I hate that it took me so long to get mine, but I wouldn't trade having him with me for anything.

My hubby and I are about a month apart, he had his first, and it's wonderful to have someone else to go through this with you!!

Just remember everyone is different so don't compare (guys lose much easier I'm convinced). Each of you will have different experiences with the band but it will be easier to go it together.

Good luck!!

Christy

that is so true!! DH lost nearly 75 lbs the first 4 months, but it's much harder for him now. We are all different. I work at family practice office and we have several pt's that have been banded, I'm constantly talking to them about this journey being individualized. Sometimes I feel like a Band Counselor, lol.

Just like everyone one else has said, try not compare the weight loss between the two of. My wife and I were banded a week apart, and my sister-in-law about 3 weeks later. Iam down 75 lbs and my wife is about 40 along with her sister. Give support to each other but do not compare as this can cause friction between the two of you. Everybody is there own person.

I agree with everyone else. Comparison won't help and men do seem to lose easier then women in general.

I can't help but wonder if it is caused by hormones, but it has been shown time and time again to happen with some frequency.

Oh, I know exactly what it is. A woman's body is programmed to hold onto the weight to have nurishment for child birth!

BUT you would think, especially after a woman is 5 years post menopause, that it would get the darn hint that..... OH we don't need all this blubber any more! :)

My wife and I were banded on 9/12/07, The staff at the hospital thought it was cute that we would do this together.

My wife had wanted to do it a year earlier but I am glad that the timing came together to get it done at the same time.

The greatest benefit is that we are both doing well and our health has never been better and providing support for each other.

It would of been easy to get discouraged, In our prior attempt to lose weight we would do fine for 3 or 4 months but then gain the weight back and more.

With the band even though the weight loss has slowed down it has kept me focus and moving in the right direction.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
