8 months out--Need Advice

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on June 16, 2008. I'm getting really discouraged I've only lost 34 lbs. What am I doing wrong??? I eat good, excercise and things just aren't happening.

Any suggestions? Please help.

I have 3.5 cc in a 14cc band. Do I just need more fill? Because I do get hungry and sometimes eat too much.

All advice is welcomed.

I would say you definitely need a fill. I have 5cc's in a 10cc band and I had surgery in October 08. My band is 1/2 full and I have lost 32 lbs. I feel like I need another small fill again soon. I would call and speak with your doc about how you are feeling and not seeing results.

Good luck!

Chances are, you need a fill. If you're getting hungry between meals, you're able to eat too much, and you're not loosing weight, then you're probably still not getting good enough restriction. Also, restriction wanes after you lose some fat around your stomach, so you're restriction will lesson as you lose weight.

Wow guys sorry about the frustration......I too am feeling a little frustrated too.I'm little over 3 months out the first 2 months were pretty easy as far as weighloss.I had good restriction & was not all that hungry.

Then I got stuck at 207! For like 3weeks to a month.I just got a fill on the 11th,I had a hard time with this fill as I was sick. Now I'm feeling better but not so sure about this restriction. It's like all of a sudden I'm at a standstill and I feel like now what I was or wasn't doing before is not working.

I find myself hungrier & able to eat more.I'm looking for Snacks.....it's frustrating.......I dont know if I need to give this fill a little while longer or if I need another one??This is what I was afraid of.......getting stuck! I know I might be getting a little prematuely worked up as some of you have been dealing with this longer but none the less it's still makes you want to pull your hair out!!:tt2:

wow that isnt very much in a 14 cc band! I would say probably so. Im assuming your doc may be one of the ones who fills very slowly? Ive noticed with that, slower weight loss can happen since its taking longer to get a good restriction level. that is based on how u feel tho. If your eating 1/2 cup portions, staying full between meals then u have good restriction but i would definatly call ur doc

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
