I got my band 12/3/08 and as of today I am down 45 lbs. I have hit a plateau the last two weeks. Well today I signed up for www.fitday.com and entered in all that I ate today and boy was I mistaking. I thought i was well below the 900-1000 calories per day. Man my eyes were opened today because the calories really stack up!!!!! below is what I ate today. I got to cut back. I have been exercizing and i guess i was just burning off the extra calories.

Is 1,428 the amount of calories you ate? I really don't think that's so bad, especially for a man. How much weight do you have left to lose?

I should also point out that right after my last fill, I lost about 20 lbs and promptly plateaued for about a month. Since then, I've lost consistently about 10 lbs a month.

Also, I plateau about 2 weeks out of every month. That's just how my body works.

How many calories does your doctor suggest you eat? What kind of exercise do you do? How many fills have you had?

Lol, I guestimate my calories and I can guarantee I understate it. I *think* I maintain on 1800 or so a day but I'd be willing to bet money its really more like 2000 or even a bit more.

But near enough was good enough for me to lose the weight and it's been good enough to maintain 18 months. So what does it matter really?

Have you lost? Do you really need to eat less or is 1400 -1500 doing the job - its a perfectly reasonable amount to be eating.

Knowledge is power.

If you know what you are eating you can make a better decision about how much or how little to cut back on.

Good you for tracking your calories. I do it here and there so as not to get too comfortable assuming I'm eating the right amounts.

It does pull me back to regular and helps me stop eating mayo. (My new drug.)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
