******Finally banded*************

Recommended Posts

Kristen and I are banded! I cannot believe it. 8/10 was the day we were banded. I feel pretty week today and have a lot of pressure in my chest. Is that normal? I am not hungry but keep thinking about food. Very weird.

Kristen is doing well.

We go to Dr. Kwons for our 1st ck up on Monday!

Pressure on your chest? Like a small child is sitting on it? You may be drinking too much. I felt like there was a kid on me, and I called Dr Kwon and he told me I was drinking too much. I didn't know how the hell that was possible, but once I slowed it down I was feeling much better. Is the feeling right in the middle of your chest, like where your sturnum is? I was very weak too the first week afterwards...but ya gotta think about how many calories and carbs your taking in NOW vs. what you were taking in. You will be okay...this first week is very scarey!! Remember apple juice if you get light headed. I had to have that a few times.

I am sooo very happy for you and your sister! You guys were about ready to fall out of your chairs at the last meeting!!! Now, you are on the other side. Remember your first meeting at Mauris office? Seems so long ago now doesn't it? Before you know it, and before I know it...a year will have passed! Its exciting!!!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE TWO OF YA!!

TTYL

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
