Hello I'm also in Mn. I just had surgery on 2/11. My doctor has me on 2 weeks of liquids after, so I am on day 7 of liquids today and it's getting really boring, how are you doing with it?

Hi, I start the pre-op diet on the 24th of Feb, can't say I'm looking forward to it though but it must be done! How are you doing post-op, no complications I hope. Looking forward to eating real food I'm sure! As a nurse who works night shift, I am a little concerned about my stamina and not feeling sick while at work. Who did your surgery?

Dr. Swain did my surgery. The recovery has been pretty good, the most pain I had came from my left shoulder and a little in my neck. I guess it's from the gas they use for the surgery. That was my first complaint waking up and the largest problem, other than that I had hardly any pain.

I just find myself actually wanting to chew and swallow something instead of just drinking it all. One of those mental things I will have to overcome I guess. I wasn't on any restrictive diet pre op, just the normal trying to lose weight diet.

Good luck to you I hope all goes well. Who is your surgeon?

I have heard of other people having pain from the gas also, so you are not alone. My surgeon is Dr. Matthew Bettendorf. I live in Sartell, MN. Good luck and thanks for the info.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
