Ok, so I have this wicked cold, and now on the downside of it getting lots of sinus drainage, cold drainage. I think it is filling up my pouch, causing me not to eat as much at one sitting.

So, when I eat, it is 3 bites, and I feel whatever it is getting stuck. But, then I am not full after 30 minutes.

Has anyone else had this problem? I thought about trying mucinex, or a decongestant, but that leads to coughing... which makes me nervous on slippage. Any ideas?

I had my first fill on 1/19, and next one is due on 3/2. I have lost 25 pounds so far.

CALL your dr. Alot of those medicines are not good for your tummy. I have had a couple of episodes with sinuses since banded. I actually bought the Saline spray and kept my nose cleaned and blowed out. Very warm wash cloths on my face and forehead, really helped for about 15 minutes at a time. Only medicine I was allowed is the Tylenol, any flavor. The saline spray is available at most grocery/ drugstores, much cheaper as well. Need to dispose after your sinuses clear up - dont save for the next time. I have hear the item called a nettie-pot helps to flush out the nose and sinuses. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Oh yes - I have a bad cold and everything I eat gets stuck. I am pretty sure the drainage blocks it up a little. I know this because I have thrown up and I don't want to get too disguisting here.

I don't know what to take either. I did take a mucinex the other night but it took so long to break it up into small enough pieces - those things are huge.

This happened to me in December and I was forced to basically do a liquid diet while I was sick to keep from getting frustrated about not eating or something getting stuck. I called my DR's office and they said at night the drainage builds up, and since it is so thick it kind of fills the pouch up. They said hot liquids such as coffee, hot tea, or hot chocolate can help to break it up. So in the morning I would drink hot chocolate, and sometimes it would help but now my restriction is more than it was before I got sick, but I can eat better just gotta chew chew chew and drink slowly.

I actually asked my doctor during a fill about this issue and he said to get the 12 hour sudafed or generic equivalent. (Not the other over the counter stuff as it doesn't work). I actually have a cold now and have been taking it for drainage and it has helped a lot.

There are so many of the decongestants I can't take because of high blood pressure. Any ideas?

Well, here we go, someone can invent a slow digesting gel substance that makes us revert to liquids for a week when our weight loss is stalled.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
