Hello all, I am very new to this world of lap band and have a lot of questions. I am happy to find this forum!!!

My journey began Monday when my PCP recommended that I look into the lap band procedure. Before he had mentioned it the thought never crossed my mind that I would need to do something of this caliber. I slept on it and reached for the support of just the idea from my parents and boyfriend, and they were all very positive about it, which made the idea really settle in my mind. I have spent the past few days researching on the internet the procedure, side effects, testimonials, and that is how I found this forum. I will be going to the seminar tomorrow night and that is the ultimate truth to find out if my insurance will cover it. I have the desire to loose the weight (85lbs roughly) but I have never been able to loose more than 30lbs with strict diet and exercise. I usually get off the path and resort back to my initial habits. I guess my biggest question for myself (and I am hoping to get some help here) is what happens to the lack of willpower? Can anyone tell me from experience….I am wondering if the lap band flips a switch, so to speak that tells your brain and your stomach “you have no choice you can not eat that”. I know for me when I was paying a personal trainer $500 a month to train me I had my butt in that gym at 6 am three times a week and I was eating healthier than I ever had, I was motivated, and lost 15 lbs which made me even more motivated. Then that $500 a month got old so I quit thinking I could keep it up on my own and since then I gained all 15 lbs back plus 15 more. Does the lap band motivate and change your whole mindset, like this?...just much more permanent.

Hey there.. Your post was just the same way I felt pre banding. It is amazing what the difference is now. I am not on a diet. I eat what I want just very small portions. I can't fail at this, as long as I follow the band rules and keep being aggresive with my fills I will be thin for the rest of my life. It's so different than dieting. I don't think about food like I used to. When I was first banded I was trying to eat low fat and such and realized that I can eat what I want, I do try and eat healthier things but I also eat a 100 calorie pack of m&m's every day lol. I eat the 100 calorie packs because if I ate one more m&m I would puke. LOL.. Seriously if you are aggresive with your fills you will be full and CANNOT overeat. You end up puking. You learn really quick what full feels like. I hope this helps and feel free to email me anytime if you have any other questions. 1morrisfamily@comcast.net. There are alot of great people on here, have fun poking around.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
