Snowball 0 Posted April 6, 2009 Hopefully I will be starting my pre-diet liquids... in about 2 weeks.....just waiting on insurance to give the ok. I have to admit something here though......you guys are scaring me to death. I know this procedure requires a lot of involvement on my part but if I am going to be hungry all the time then why the surgery??? I guess it is just my nerves.....I will live.....:smile2:

MrRiceGuy 1 Posted April 20, 2009 Oh, sorry. I thought someone would have answered. As for the hunger, it's not an issue once you're banded. Now, don't get me wrong, the first couple weeks post-op are a little difficult because you're still adjusting and healing, and as you get near the next phase of the diet (liquid->mush, mush->solids), it gets hard to stay full on liquids/mush. But once you move get back to normal food, it's like before the band, except you get full quickly and stay full for longer. So, all the hunger pains that people are referring to is only very temporary. Does that answer your question?
Snowball 0 Posted April 20, 2009 I am sorry....I think I must be getting testy because I have waited 2 weeks going on three for my Medicaid to approve (I am on SSI) and they (DR. office) talked like that was not a problem but I am starting to stress pretty bad about it. So, when I saw no one was talking to me I got snippety.....sorry. I have read so much in this thread that my head is spinning. Especially about the 10 day pre op and 10 day post op being not healthy and some members actually getting physically sick over the drastic cut back. You do make it sound much better though.....maybe I am just getting panicky over the thing as a whole and waiting for Medicaid to decide my fate..... Thank you so much for your reply!!!!
