Let's Talk Movie Review

Recommended Posts

Oh, man...I'll just have to put Knowing on my "see on a rental" list. I believe you, and won't waste the $8 to see it, but will eventually, down the road see it. DH doesn't want to see it anyway, so that saves money. :huh2:

Ok, I just came back from "Knowing"

Full disclosure -- I love scifi, disaster, end-of-the-world type flicks. I give a LOT of leeway to these films, you have to buy into their view and mindset.

That said -- this thing SUCKED

It sucked so hard I expected to have a hickey when I walked out. It was so bad it should have starred Bill Pullman, Kevin Bacon and Anne Heche

Just don't. Please. Save yourself the $8 and 2 hours. May I suggest instead Roadhouse?

I too love apocalyptical movies. However, it's been a very very long time since I've seen a good Nick Cage film. I try to avoid his films like I do Stallone's.....

Hey, I liked Family Man. :huh2:

Why doesn't anyone but me like Face Off?

I give face/off some style points, because I like that it was stereotypical John Woo (big circular movements in slo - mo, flowing coats like capes, etc).

Well, I give him props for Raising Arizona, Leaving Las Vegas and Face-off (but he was trying to be Travolta, anyone's cool doing that). Gone in 60 Seconds wasn't bad, but that movie didn't require acting chops -- any breathing middle age male would work.

Do you realize he's been in over -60- movies?

Raising Arizona was a classic. Also, I really enjoyed Leaving Las Vegas, and was pleasantly surprised at the job he did. I tend to chalk that up to "give a million monkeys a typewriter and let them type for a million years...."

I didn't know he had 60+ movies. I guess being related to Francis Ford Coppola has its perks, eh?

Oooooh, Cohen Bros! "Barton Fink" was their best, bar none! There are so many levels of screenwriting going on in there....incredible film.

The Rock: What a special guy!

Nick Cage: Loved him in Raising Arizona, Honeymoon in Vegas (with Sarah Jessica Parker), Face/Off and Con-Air. He started to "lose it" after Bringing Out the Dead... that movie SUCKS! Gone in 60 Seconds was good, but yes I agree with anyone being able to play that part. Did you know he got paid $20M for that?

It's nice to be him.

Nick will NEVER be able to top his multifaceted, subtle, nuanced character portrayal of Johnny Blaze in Ghost Rider. Cage got robbed of the oscar on that one.

Lasst night's movies...oldies but goodies....

Treasure of the Sierra Madre - 4 (nobody does eerily over-the-edge-subtle- insanity like Bogart)

Touch of Evil - 4 (Charlton Heston as a mexican was pushing it, but once over that weirdness it was a good movie).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
