up and down weight loss

Recommended Posts

I was banded on January 16th and have lost a total of 18 pounds from pre-op up until today:thumbup:. My question is I am at a stand still with my weight. I lost the 17-18 and can't seem to budge from there. I go to the YMCA 3 times a week, just cardio until my first check up and then on to weights. I started soft solid food about a week ago and can't keep chicken down at all:ohmy:! I can eat steak, chopped steak, toppings off of pizza, all kinds of fish, you name and it stays, but not chicken, does anyone else have this problem????

Have you checked your measurements? Sometimes when you increase exercise you will drop inches but not pounds. See if one of your slightly tight jeans fits better now, it may be that you are still losing just not pounds.

Also, make sure you get enough Water, if we don't get enough Water then our body thinks it has to hold on to whatever water it currently has....that means extra pounds.

See if those help,

Christy

Most people stall in weeks 3-10 postop to some degree. The loss only looks slow because you lost so much in such a fast chunk of time. Keep doing what you are doing. Your body is adjusting to a massive change and a massive shock. You'll get there! The scale WILL start to move again if you don't give up.

I was banded on the 8th of January and I am also having the same problem. Weight goes up and comes down. I wish I can break that 230 mark. I changed my excerise program and food intake. I have not had my first fill as of yet. I am hoping that would help move the scale again. I was going to have it today but the insurance company did not send the approval to my doctors office in time for my appointment so I got re-scheduled for next week. Any ideas would be very helpful.

I was banded back in September and stressing about the slow down in weight, I have some weeks when I don't lose any or gain a half a pound, but for the most part I'm averaging a one pound loss per week.

I was driving myself crazy in the beginning and on New Year's day made a resolution that I would only weigh once a week, so now every Thursday morning after I get up (and pee) I get on the scale, naked, and weigh myself. I keep track on a calendar so that I can discuss any issues with my doctor when I see him, but as long as I am staying still or losing a pound a week with no gain then I'm happy.

As long as I don't go up, then I can live with my new lifestyle changes. It's a long road, but we'll succeed, so hang in there.

I'm going to have to do something like this. I have a serious love - hate relationship with my scale, especially now that my weight loss has slowed down. I got off to a really quick start, and have come to a virtual halt. I know, logically, I should have expected it, but it's frustrating and stepping on that scale every single day isn't helping my attitude.

Mmm...the scale. Horrible thing at times. I wrote a "dear john" letter to my scale on my blog...it hasn't responded in kind yet! Selfish!

I was banded 12/1/08. First fill 1/13, second fill 2/10. I can only notice slight restriction. Third fill is scheduled for 3/24. The weight is coming off soooo slowly. I have lost 17 pounds since being banded, but none in the last 3 weeks. I hate my scale! I put it in the living room closet this morning so I wouldn't get on it every day. I know the weight will eventually come off, but frustrating none the less.

I experience problems eating chicken. Even with tiny bites and chewing it to death, it is still hard to get down, as well as bread and some meats. Since I have never been one to drink alot of fluids, I am forcing myself to drink more Water, which should help. Best of luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
