I know how you feel. I feel like Iv lost so much until I see a picture of myself and realize Im not looking as thin as I feel, I still look .... errr fat. My stomach isnt going down as fast as Id like especially.

You have done so well. Iv been banded longer than you and not yet where you are.

What I do is count every 10 lbs, and Celebrate it when I hit it. Each 10 lbs took a lot of effort, so tell yourself, thats 10 down, and only look ahead the next 10 lbs. Dont try to make large goals that take too long, make smaller goals that you keep achieving.

I know what you mean! I am so there with you all! I dropped a bunch really quickly in the beginning with the band and now it has slowed down dramatically. I am still down farther than i would have been without it. And I am getting closer to being under 200. I have bad days too, like last week when I was pmsing. LOL. really bad week! (-: Anyhow, keep up the good work! You will be rewarded in the end!!! Kelli

Well, I'm still on the same path, but handling it better. I've been on this site more the last few days looking for the encouragement I need... My husband has been so good about things, but he still doesn't get it. He's one of these guys who can eat anything and never look any different. He usually puts on a few pounds over the winter only to get very skinny in the summer.. He eats non-stop some days... comes in at a whopping 168... God, I wish.... Anyway.. I'm trying some things to get myself on track and I did schedule my 4th fill for next Tuesday.. I'm a bit nervous about that, but we'll see how it goes... I'll be smarter this time than the last, so hopefully no problems.. Thanks for all the encouragement.. I know we all can do this.. But it takes more time than we want it to take.. I keep thinking that if I lost 10 pounds a month that by next year I'll be at my goal.... WOW... what a thought... and I'm sure it's an urealistic one, but I can't help myself... Julie

Hi Julie,

I have ups and downs just like you are describing. It will passs. One thing I have noticed is: If I can have just 1 day where I am 'back in the saddle' persay for some reason it gives me soo much hope and I get excited again. So if I fall off the wagon I try to, pick a day were I drink all my Water, eat within my points (I am doing Weight Watchers) and walk at least 20 minutes. Generally I lose .25 or .5 pounds and that gets me all jazzed up to keep going again and before I know it, I am off the pity party.:sneaky:

Also,

Because photos or window reflections upset me, I avoid EVERYTHING. It is just such a hard thing while I am 'loosing'.

I do look in the mirror and make sure I try to think only good thoughts about my progress and that seems to help.

Keep up the great work chicky!

Julie,

I think you hit a common note here for most of us. I was in this same funk at Christmas. I was pretty freaked out about it because during most of my other dieting attempts (Weight Watchers, LA, TOPS.....) this is where I'd pack it in, start eating anything I wanted and gain all the weight back and a few extras.

I, too, have the rail thin husband who once a year goes on a diet just by skipping Cookies and loses 10 pounds in 2 weeks. There are many days I hate him for it. He will never understand, but he does care and he tries. That counts for alot.

What got me out of my funk, was a new fill. I saw my doctor, got that fill and started to lose really quickly (for me). I try to focus on how good I feel, and I do feel great. Yeah, I'm still obese and then some, but I can run up a flight of stairs without passing out. I had to go on a business trip last week and I fit into the airplane seat beautifully. I could even use my tray. I'm not looking like a model, yet (or maybe never), but I'm doing great and so are you.

Cindy

Man I know how you feel! I am sorry your going through this and its tough and the girls here are so right. WHen you lose alot of weight in the beginning its hard to notice but closer to goal every pound makes a difference. Do you have any before pics at your heaviest? compare the pictures and see how far you have come! I do get it tho, I still feel very feel fat and ugly sometimes and have lost 87 pounds since 9/15. I promise u will start to see it. It will jump at you. Although our minds seem to play tricks on us and I see myself as the almost 300 pound girl that i was sometimes. The one thing that has helped me was looking at my before pics compared to my most recent. That really put things into perspective for me! That is the best advice I have. the amount of weight u lost is amazing and im sure you can really tell. so dont be so hard on yourself. Soon you will look at your pictures and it will be a whole brand new you.

I have fallen off the wagon and have been eating out due to business trips and not having a car I was reliant on others. I fel like crap I can't wait ti hit the gym tomorrow and burn some of this funk off I was banded in mid november and I've only lost about 28 lbs and I expected so much more for myself. So back to reality but as i was kickin myself i realized that on my flight I fit in my seat. I didn't have to struggle with the seat belt and I was able to put my tray down put a magazine on it and lean over and read. That would have never happened last november.

Julie-

I can only wish that I do as well as you!

We are very similar- My BMI is 58.1 and I've been fat forever too. I weighed 75lbs when I was only 5!

Today is my first day on the 2wk pre-op diet. Surgery date is 3/11.

I sure do hope I'm sitting in your position 6 mo. from now....

Take Care,

Malissa

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
