Being Banded March 11th !!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone, I have finally figured out how all this works. I am a slow learner . I am so excited this site is availible. I have been on the chat area a few times and the people there have been GREAT. I started my journey in January, and will be banded March 11th. I am so over joyed to have this tool and the opportunity to have it. I have always put my family first and me second. I guess all moms do that. But now I am doing a me thing, and I can't wait. I start my 2 weeks of Protein Drinks Monday. Just counting the days till surgery. I am a terrible waiter and am trying to keep myself busy, busy, busy.... Thanks for all the information everyone has put out there it has been very helpful. Well gotta run, I am at work ....

Hello... I'm being banded the day after you on 3/12/09. Wishing you the best. I told someone the same exact thing today at work... now it's "me time". I'm also a Mom (2 girls) and married. I've always put my family first and me last. My girls are now in their early 20's so it's time for me now. This forum has given me so much inspiration and I only found it a few days ago. Hope the liquid diet goes well. I'm more afraid of that than I am of having the surgery because I feel like the surgery will help any hunger pangs but the liquid diet may be HARD. I'd like to hear how others have coped with the liquid diet. Keep us posted once you start it on how it's going.

Lisa

I'm not sure yet which Protein Drink I'll use. I go to my lap band class at the hospital tomorrow afternoon and she said that they will have us taste test different ones they sell at the hospital. I'm so tired of thinking about it; I'm just ready to start this whole process. Honestly, I've been treating myself to all the foods that I love that I won't have for a long time and I was doing that for a few days but now it's like I don't care. I just want to get started on my new life and leave that one behind! I'll let you know about the drinks I taste test. Let me know about the Unjury drinks too, please.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
