My name is kristina and im 24years old.

I weigh 255 and have had a really hard time trying to loss weight. I havent got the band yet but am only thinking about it. I would really like it if people could let me know if it is worth it. I have herd that it could take a while for the adjustments to the band. I myself have never had surgery and I have herd you have to change what you eat anyway so I don't see the difference in changing my diet without the surgery. If someone could let me know the differences that would be great. Any other good information would be good as well.

hope to hear something soon ciao

The surgery is definitely worth it to me. You don't "have" to change your diet if you don't want to. But most of us choose to help the band along and be healthier, so we adjust our diet. The band just controls the portion size, not what you put in it. But some banders do have problems with bread and certain meats, it's harder to get down. It does take a while to get restriction. It took me 4months. But everyone is different. Some come out of surgery with good restriction already.

The surgery is not for everyone, it's a very big decision. There is alot of info on this website and I'm sure that will help you make the right decision for you. For me, it has helped so much. I still eat pizza and burgers from time to time. But I can't eat the amount I used to by any means! lol. Once I really started seeing the scale move, I wanted to make it move faster! So I do eat healthier now, I have cut back alot on my fast food, and I try to go for walks a couple times a week.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

i want to thank you for your information.

I just talked to my boyfriend of over 5 years and he is completly against me getting this done. He said that he would rather me do it by eating the right foods and excersise, and that he is really going to help me that way. Not sure what i can do if he and my family are against it. So i can't really get it wthout support of the people around me. I wish you lots of luck for you and thank you again.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
