What does restriction feel like??

Recommended Posts

Hi all - I was banded on the 19th Dec and have had 2 fills, one of 4cc's and one of 1.5cc's and I'm scheduled for another fill next week. Here's what I want to know... what does restriction - the sweet spot - feel like when you eat??

I've had a couple of minor 'stuck' episodes when I eat something too quickly or without chewing properly, but each time, I just wait a couple of minutes, and it goes down. I'm finding that I'm a little bit less hungry than I used to be, but I can still eat a big meal - I've had big huge salads, I've had sushi dinners with rice, I've eaten a 1/2 bagel with lots of tuna salad on it.

My weight loss is slow - and only happens when I really focus on exercise and restricting my own food.

Can you tell me what the sweet spot really feels like? What's the sensation you get when you eat? Does it stop you from eating a big meal??

Thanks in advance, I just need help deciding how much of a fill to get next week.

I went to krystals and was only able to eat a half of one krystal and 3 fries and I was full if I eat at taco bell I can only eat half of a taco. You will be full and unable to eat anymore had my surgery in May 08 and have lost 80 pounds and have had 6 fills.Good luck on your journey

Good question. I'm curious about this as well. When you say that you are unable to eat anymore, Alice, does that mean that you are not hungry anymore or that you just physically can't eat anymore or you will throw up. Just wondering if the hunger goes away with the proper restriction.

I have a bit too much restriction right now after my recent fill. I do not get very hungry and when I do I can't eat hardly anything and I feel full and uncomfortable in my chest as well.

Hey again, I feel full and if I were to try and eat anymore I would get sick. You really will only be able to eat a half a cup of food if that. But that is what I wanted tired of living to eat, now I eat to Live. I love my Band.

I get full sooner. MUCH sooner. To the point that my perception of a serving size is beginning to change. What used to be a normal portion for me now looks like an unbelievably huge amount of food....three meals worth at least.

It also feels tight...I have to take tiny bites if I want to enjoy my meal and not feel things going down "hard".

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
