Ate too much 1 week post op.

I did it too. I stuck religiously to the approved foods on the post-op diet, but I definitely did overeat on occasion.

Everything was fine afterwards and I went on to have success with the band. It is really hard in the beginning to make that psychological adjustment, but it does happen if you keep working on the behaviors.

All of us struggle during those early days, just know that it does get better if you keep trying to do the right thing. I wish you the best of luck over the coming weeks. A little restriction will make all the difference in the world.

Your doing great. Thank goodness you did not eat solid foods. You are sticking to liquids so job well done, as I know that is hard to do.

Soup is a slider food. It slides down into the small pouch and empties into the larger stomach area. However, if you are chugging (sp) and drinking 6 cups straight through without breaks in between, you can risk stretching your small pouch and hurting your internal incisions.

Call your doctor. Let them know your really hungry and the amount of soup you are consuming. They might allow you to start mushies early or let you have no-fat yogurt. It does not hurt to ask.

I have yet to be banded so i can't say too much yet. but just reading your post has made me aware of a mistake i too could do...

it is a myth that just because it is Soup it is low fat/ healthy.... i didn't know this until i read your post and did some numbers

Campbells Cream of chicken soup

nutritional info after ingesting 6 cups

Calories 1440

Fat 96 grams

Sodium 10440

that is enough to make a person without a band not feel so well,,,,,,,,,, the high high sodium alone i think could cause some Fluid retentions and inflamation

Hello I doubt you messed up anything. The first night after surgery I had a little too much chicken broth or gatorade & vomited many times. i think that would happen before any damage would happen.

vomiting should be avoided at all costs. It can cause damage to your band.

I agree with jms462001. Vomiting can actually cause the damage that you are trying to avoid. It is high risk, especially right after banding.

Wow, it feels so good to know that sometimes people mess up, as weird as that sounds.

I have been doing EVERYTHING correct from pre-op to post op. I'm 27 days after surgery, and I feel like the last week, I have been blowing it big time.

I haven't been eating steak or anything like that, or drinking carbonated drinks, or even having alcohol. But, today, I had 3 pieces of wheat toast, and two small pieces of soy Protein chicken breasts in one sitting.

I feel uncomfortable, and like the biggest loser. I feel so stressed out about everything. My hair thinning out, getting laid off, to the surgery. I've dropped 10 pounds, and I feel like I should be further along.

In regards to the Soup, I have been wanting to drink a lot of it, but have been putting 4 oz in a cup, and putting 6 oz of low sodium broth in it, to cut the thickness down.

Trader Joes has some great Soups which curb your appetite.

Sometimes, I put a tablespoon of Greek yogurt in the hot soup for Protein.< /p>

Hang in there.

I just found this site, and now I don't feel so alone!

Your hair should not be thinning. Make sure you are getting lots of protein. Drink protein shakes and add Peanut Butter, whatever you have to in order to get them down plus the PB adds some oils which are important to keep your hair. I ate Peanut Butter throughout and never lost any hair. Also make sure you take Biotin along with your multi and B-complex.

You are going to be hungry until you heal and get a fill. You probably won't be able to eat that toast once you get a fill. In the meantime, try to focus on protein foods like eggs, tuna, chicken salad as they keep you full and are what your body need for healing. Stay away from bread and other carbs if you can. I ate Cookies a couple times before my first fill (quite a few!!) so I know how it is! 10 pounds is great really!!

I wouldn't worry so much about it. I couldn't resist pretzels (the big hard ones) and took a couple of bites and it did NOT go down w/out some difficulty. Then I did it again last night...gosh, when am I going to learn??? I'm 10 days post-op and have lost 20 lbs. and was feeling fantastic; however, after last night's pretzel fiesta, today I feel full (bloated), like I need to burp and can't and am feeling a bit down for doing so...but I will move on and do the best I can b/c I did not go through this whole process to fail.....I will prevail!!! :lol: NO MORE pretzels FOR ME!

I know how you feel. I 'm five days out. and I'm so hungry. I had a cup of potato Soup wiithout the potatoes from Chili's today. I did okay with it.

I am 6 days post op and was going through hell I am still on Clear liquids no Protein shakes nada. So today instead of eating something bad like a burger or something I just had a slim fast shake and now im feeling the stuck burp feeling as well. It isn't that bad, but I wish it would go away. I feel better then with hunger pains and starving I can say that. I never thought I would be so excited to eat some damn mushy foods lol lol.

The Soup itsn't that bad like everyone said it will go through you, but we all have to focus and work hard. I know and feel your pain im going through it right with u now. The other day on here I thought I was gonne cry and go crazy because I wanted food so so bad.

I've been so worried about eating things that Im not supposed to that I haven't even tried... didn't want to end up back in the hospital or something cause I ate a cookie. One night I did take a bite of meatloaf, chew it up and spit it out.

I love 15 pounds in week 1, week two has slowed the pace some, I'm sitting at 22 total now, but my scale seems confused cause everytime I step on it it changes (and we're talking about step on, step off, back on and it can be up or down 2 pounds). I tried changing the battery, but it's still confused. It wasn't used to getting used so much I guess.

I moved on to pureed foods this week and have found satisfaction in getting familiar flavors. My nutritionist made some recommendations that might help. Think of meals you like and how you can reach that flavor.

For example, purreed chicken (made with some good broth and canned chicken), some mashed potatoes blended with extra milk and purreed string Beans... I felt like i was eating Sunday dinner. Tonight I'm going to try layering a Mexican version with refried Beans, chicken and green enchilada sauce with some greek yogurt instead of sour cream.

Stick in there... you did this for a reason, try not to look for ways around it, but look for ways to live in it.

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive).
