Pain after fill

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I got my 6(ish?) fill, I've never gotten to a good restriction, mostly I'm tight in the mornings and can eat only a little but by evening it seems I have no restriction.

Anyway I went for my fill yesterday and the Doc filled me to till I was completely closed (he put 4 more CC's in) then had me drink Water and of course it did not go down then he started taking Fluid out until the Water drained out of the

pouch and I could drink, so he ended up adding 2.5 cc's (I have a 14cc band). Then I drank the whole bottle of water before I left the office,I was able to get the water down, but it did take some time. Anyway on the way home I started to feel some pain, and I tried eating a little Soup last night and had a lot of pain!

This morning I could feel something was different, but it didn't really hurt. So before I went to work I had a few sips of water to take my Vitamins and that hurt a little and when I got to work I got a pudding and after 3 bites I was done! The weird thing is this is not a stuck pain (I've been stuck, and it either goes away or I BP it out). Beside this is more like the pain I had after surgery, like a sharp pain.

Anyone ever have anything like this happen? I'm wondering if I got bruised when he filled it up and I drank without it being able to go thru. I've called my Doc and left a message I hope he calls back!!

You are probably swollen from the fill. I would suggest calling your doc as you did and if it were me i would stay on liquids for a few days and slowly moving to solids after a few more days.

If it gets to where you cant keep liquids down you need to go in for an unfill.

Me personally i do not like keeping my band so tight that i can only eat 3 or 4 bites . Others are ok with it .

But i would suspect your swollen from the fill ?

Let us know what happens

Mindy

I have the same sharp pain that you describe. I am hoping that it is from swelling and not because it was filled too much. I have been able to drink Protein Shakes and eat cheese, but haven't tried any real solids. Did your pain go away with time?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
