2 weeks post surgery

Recommended Posts

I had lapband surgery 1/28/09. In two weeks, I lost 17 pounds making a total of 27 pounds counting the 10 lbs I lost pre-surgery. I have my first follow-up appt. with the surgeon on Monday. My biggest problem was the first week I felt like I had a big ball of mucus in the back of my throat. The Protonix the surgeon prescribed has taken care of that feeling and I am careful now to take small bites and sip my fluids. I am in stage 3 of eating - pureed Diet. I have been cooking a lot of chicken and making lowfat sauces and then pureeing 2-3 oz chicken in the blender with a couple spoonfuls of the sauce. The variety has helped keep me from getting bored. I am excited about the progress so far!

I was also banded on the 28th but I am only down 17 lbs down. I see you are from Indiana just curious but where did you have your surgery with? I haven't had any trouble with my band. I start feeling hungry about two hours after I eat then I have my Protein Drink and that tides me over until the next meal.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
