Just a question I just had my second fill yesterday and I'm also sick with a bad cold. Was it not a good idea to get the fill while being sick? I have been feeling really bad all day.I feel pretty tight but can still get fluids down.Any advice??

As long as you're getting fluids down, you could probably wait to see your surgeon again. I'd call him tho to see what he wants you to do.

I've been sick with a bad cold for a week now. A couple of days before coming down with it, I'd gotten another fill and had good restriction. Now, I'm really tight. I'm able to eat a little later in the day but I have to be very careful about chewing enough before swallowing. In the AM I'm drinking hot tea and Protein Shakes. Yesterday I was able to do an egg but it took me a REALLY long time to eat it and I was tired after. Decided to just stick with a shake in the AM for now. I didn't know I was getting sick or I would've waited til I got better.

I've seen lots of people on here say that they've gotten tighter when they get sick. I think it has to do with the inflammation of everything. Your sinuses are tied into the whole digestive system (hence food or liquids coming out your nose when laughing or vomiting, or when your sinuses are draining and you get an upset stomach).

Anyway, hang in there and call your surgeon to see what he/she says. If all of a sudden, you can NOT get fluids down, get in ASAP!! Don't mess around with it.

Hope you feel better soon.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
