so why can’t I lose any more weight? Been stuck on the same number for about 2 weeks now. I work out every other day anywhere from 25-45 minutes. I drink a low-card slim fast shake for Breakfast and lunch and for dinner I try to have a good healthy one. I’m getting so frustrated and it makes want to give up. I already lost 20 lbs in 2 months. But been stuck on 20 for a while now. This week I took it up a notch and started to work out twice in one day everyday and lift weights every other day. Can anyone help me????

P.S. I don’t have the lap band yet!

Don't give up!!! You are probably like me. I will lose and then...nothing. I have a band, but I've been at the same weight for two weeks. My doctor said he was "disappointed" in my lack of loss (somehow like it's my fault), but, like you, I exercise and eat right. But, I'm not worried. You'll see. In a few more days you'll step on the scale and "WOW! Another pound gone!" It's just the way some of us are built.

I try to stay off the scale and not worry about it. I know I will lose it, it will just take time. I stay at 1000 calories a day and average one hour exercise a day, so the weight has to go some time. I don't need it to be fast, I just need it to be gone!

I find that I can lose weight for about three weeks, then nothing happens for another two weeks, then I lose again. You may have a similar pattern.

In any case, don't give up. You lost 20 pounds, and those are now gone for good, as long as you keep at it and don't give up. You can do it, I know you can!

Um....this is usually why we opt to get the band. Do you mean that your surgeon / insurance is mandating that you lose a certain amount of weight before they'll band you? I'm a little confused.

My guess, is that your body has sensed the loss of weight and the low calories and is intentionally holding on to as much as it possibly can. Try adjusting your calories up 10-30% and check your percentages of Protein versus complex carbs. If you are working out a lot and not getting enough complex carbs your body will do this.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
