wrabago 0 Posted February 12, 2009 Hello everyone. I have kinda of a problem and i need some help. I have to do the 6 months of supervised diet. Im on my second month. Now my doctor is really getting on me because im not loosing weight. I havent told her that the surgeons office told me not to loose weight because the insurance would not pay for it. If this has happened to anyone plaease help with some advise. Should i loose some weight or stay the same. Its a embarrasing getting on that scale and having the doctor give me dirty looks like im not trying.
RestlessMonkey 7 Posted February 12, 2009 If the surgeon told you not to lose or no surgery, and you want the surgery, then you have your answer.
spud.mama 7 Posted February 12, 2009 I know, have your doc call your surgeon to know exactly what to do and say in his reports, cuz you don't want to get denied cuz he put in there "not trying". Spud
daco525 0 Posted February 13, 2009 I was also told by my surgeon not to lose more than 5 lbs. Luckily my doctor is allowing me to report my weight from my scale at home which he is documenting at each monthly visit. I think this was his way of letting me do what I want and keeping himself somewhat out of it. My surgeon said he needs to note each month "no significant change" pertaining to weight. Mr. Green 3 Posted February 15, 2009 Does your insurance require a weight loss? As you will read, most insurance companies require some loss during the 6 months diet and excercise program. If not, I would go back to what your surgeon says.
lipstix64 1 Posted February 15, 2009 My insurance company required I lose at least 5% of my body weight. The reason is to make sure you are "committed" and that you will try. My doctor suggested this as well so my liver shrinks. This is to have better access to my stomach and if my liver is fatty, it makes it harder to get to. You really have to try hard. I felt that if I could lose weight on my own, I wouldnt need the band. But, you have to work for this. It will be worth it. I had to lose 12 lbs in three months and lost 14. Do you know how fast you can lose that? Just drink two shakes(Isopure) per day and eat a regular dinner, drink a lot of Water. Weigh yourself once a week. If you want to cheat, keep it to minimum on the weekends. We all have SOME willpower as we have all lost weight in the past. I just got my surgery in October, lost about 35 lbs, including pre=op its about 50. Good luck.
