Lisa Lisa Bo Bisa !

Recommended Posts

sorry it took me so long, I have been out all weekend. Anyways.... I went to my seminar yesterday and it was everything I had hoped. Dr. Onopchenko was very, VERY informative. He didn't sugar coat anything, but at the same time he gave us such hope. He does lap band and bypass but did not try to sway people either way, he gave us the information and now it's up to us to make an educated, well informed decision. I knew that I wanted the Lap Band before the seminar but know I am totally sure this is for me...yayyyyy!!!

It was really comforting to know that I had already learned so much on my own from this forum and other research. Although Dr.O clarified some things, most, but not all of what he had to say about the band I had seen posted from people here.

All I can say about the bypass is NO WAY! It is way too scary and drastic

for me.

Thanks for asking Eileen!!

Lisa

I'm so glad it went well. I felt the same way going into the seminar and leaving it. I learned so much here and when the doctor spoke everything seemed so clear in my mind.

WTG !!!

Hugs !!!

I'm so confused. I figured I was the only Lisa Lisa Bo Bisa from New Jersey in the world, and I just atttended a seminar, too. Okay, I'll go to bed and try to get some of that "sleep" that people rave about.

Losing my marbles due to insomnia, so I'll shut up now. Glad your seminar went well though!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
