This is the way to listen!

I am a newbie to this whole process and I am ready to listen to the individuals who have gone thru the process. Whether it be 10 days ago to 10 years ago.

I feel the best place to get advice, the truth, the bad and ugly are from the bandsters living with the band. No story will be to short, so please let me have it.. Tell me everything.

Where I am in the process:

I attended a seminar (with a surgeon)

I have Humana

Waiting on Humana to call back to let me know about eligibility requirements (if you have questions that I should ask, please let me know)

That's it.

I will be waiting to hear from all of you experienced super stars!!

Thank you!

What specifically do you want to know?

Honestly, I want to know everything!

Where I am right now. I attended a Bariatric Seminar in Sept 2008 and decided against the surgery. I started thinking about it again in January and decided in February 2009, that I wanted to go ahead with it.

I have called my insurance Humana PPO and weight loss surgery is covered 1 time. I am waiting for the insurance company to call me back to explain what I need to do to go ahead with the surgery. I know that I will have to have 6 months of documented weight plan with my primary care physician.

That's all I know....

So anything and everything that you can clue me in on would be wonderful and very helpful.

Thank you

This is such a broad open ended question, you may not get so many responses. The best bet would be to look at similar threads that are already posted. The good, the bad and the ugly is all over this forum.

Banding is the best thing I ever did. I went from morbid obesity to a normal BMI in less than a year . . . and I am strong and healthy to boot. I never had any major complications but had a couple of unfills for getting sporadically tight.

Good luck on your journey.

I've been keeping a blog pretty regularly through this whole process and it will give you a close look at the experience from my perspective.

I read a few other blogs when I was deciding whether to have the surgery (Lise the Loser & ThinspirationDarling -- there are links in my blog). I found them really interesting, and they demystified the process for me and helped me to know what to expect.

I also bought a few books about banding -- here is a link to the one I liked the best -- [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Weight-Loss-Surgery-Adjustable-Gastric/dp/1600940021/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1234480653&sr=1-12]Amazon.com: Weight Loss Surgery with the Adjustable Gastric Band: Everything You Need to Know Before and After Surgery to Lose Weight Successfully: Robert Sewell, Linda Rohrbough: Books[/ame]

I hope that's helpful! Good luck in making your decision! best one I ever made!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
