I had my band filled on Monday (the 4th time) and it has been really tight - I'm back on liquids for a week but even those have been hard to digest.

I had the fill done under x ray and he made me drink a glass of Water post fill that went down fine but I'm just having trouble with liquids. I'm reluctant to get any liquid taken out - will the band loosen and how long might it take?

any help much appreciated! I've lost over 50 pounds since being banded in July so things are going well.

thanks,

Lesley

You may just have swelling and that could resolve itself in a few days. Then again, some people get tighter.

I have had a fill where I was pretty tight and I just waited it out and after a week and a half it became more tolerable and I have had a fill where I was way too tight and had to get a slight unfill. Watch for signs, if you are not able to get enough to drink and stay hydrated or enough nutrition or you develop reflux or start to throw up then please for you own health and the safety of your band go and get it loosened a bit.

Personally, I would go back and have them remove some. You do not want to be miserable and you want to be able to get the correct nutrition. Also, when you are too tight, you could stay swollen because everything you drink causes your stomach and band to work harder than they need to.

Congrats on your 50 pound weight loss!

Personally, I want to lose weight just like everyone else on this forum. And I would love to lose it quickly, but not to the detrminet of my health.

I will never accept a fill in which I could not swallow liquids. If this would happen to me, I would call my doctor and get a slight unfill. It is not a race to lose weight but more of journey. I know I will get there and so will you.

If you cannot keep fluids down then call your doctor.

My second fill was pretty tight. I could drink Water fine, but Protein Drinks were a little difficult. It took over a week before I could switch over to mushies, but I chose to wait it out only because I could drink liquids pretty well. If you are having a hard time with water, go back and get the unfill!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
