PMS and pain relievers

Recommended Posts

Hi. I am new here and I would like to ask for some suggestions? See, I suffer from very painful PMS. I've read from somewhere that strrong pain relievers like ultram, vicodin can be used to treat PMS pain. Have you ladies ever heard of this or tried it? Thanks for your help.

Ultram is a great pain pill. It's supposed to be non narcotic. I have never tried taking it in the day time. I take it before bed when my back is hurting so much that I can't sleep because it's painful to lay down. It does make me sleepy.

Vicodin causes Constipation and I don't need any more of that!

I take 3 Aleve pills and have even taken DS Anaprox(aleve) from doctor. Ds is actually 4X ovc aleve, double perscription strength. It worked amazingly well. Im not promoting large doses of ovc drugs , just sharing my experiences. Now I do take Aleve, today actually, for pms. 4 hours of relief, give or take an hour. I know this can be debilitating, at least for me it can be, and I hope you find a good med :crying:

I suffered for years with terrible cramps and then my doctor prescribed me Naproxen 500 mg and let me tell you, it is a lifesaver! I literally could not function and missed many school and work days. Now I pop a pill and I am off. It lasts usually 3-4 hours and then I pop another one. It has been a god send for me! Good luck and I hope you find something!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
