Anyone in Glasgow been banded on NHS??

Recommended Posts

Hi just wondered what your experiences were? I went initially to docs 7 months ago to be referred for the band and was put on the waiting list for a weight management course, got my first appointment last week and the dietitian wants me to see a physcologist??!!?? so even longer before the couse starts! This WMC is almost a year long!!! Does anyone know if it's worth my while going back to doctors and asking to be refered again, im at desperate stages now.

Thanks

Hi im from the UK, & from the very first visit to the GP to actually having the surgery took 5 months..I never had to see a physcologist... just a dietition & the surgeon, I was banded at Derby Hospital in january 09

I would go back to your doc & have another word with them & ask them why things are taking so long

Hi i live in the glasgow area.I was on the nhs waiting list for two years for the op .I had to go and see a physcologist plus a dietician twice plus had all the blood tests plus a endascope.I went back to see the surgeon and he told me to come back and see him in six months as there was no funding for the op.So after all this i ended up going to belgium and got it done private as there did not seem to me that i was going to get it on the nhs .It seems to be a postcode lottery if you get it in your area.Hope this helps.

Yes i know what you mean! It's the failure rate im worried about tho £3000 is a hell of a lot of money to spend for it not to work. Im still angry that after 7 months i still havn't got anywhere through the NHS ive heard of other places where it's taken 6 weeks maximum to first being seen by doctor to actual banding date!

I did no realy have the money for it to fail either but i felt there was no other choice but to have it done.I have lost about 3 stone since been banded on the 1 st of nov so it seems to have put me on the right track even though i have still not got full restriction from the band.

3 stone since Nov is excellent!! I hope my band is as successful as yours has been.Ive not heard back a date from them in april yet tho so i might have to go chase them up.

Hi every1, hope your all well. I was referred to my local NHS hossi in manchester Nov last year, to be told in Jan that there was no funding, my doc has since refered me to another hossi in manchester and yet again, no funding, the nhs funding for the op is defently post coded. If you are lucky enought to get the funding and a NHS hossi that will do the op, you will prob have to be put on the waiting list, which is between 1 to 2 years wait. I have now booked my app with doc chris in belguim, my operation is booked for may and I am realy excited, how we are going to pay for the op i dont know, but we will find the money some how. I have always looked after my kids and hubby and now is the time I look after my self. NB, I need to lose about 7 to 8 stone xxx

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
