Desperate for a fill

Recommended Posts

I am so scheduled for 1st fill 02/17/09 and I am counting the days. I pray the fill works for a few weeks. My dr usually add 2cc's. I am eating very healthy, counting calories and working out at the gym four days a week however I am also starving with how much food I am told I should be eating. I can not survive with such small portions. I am making it on pure will power. I eat and don't really get full. I eat until I'm not physically hungry but then I am hungry about 2 to 3 hours later. My husband was banded a week after me and is going through some hunger as well. At times I am so fustrated because I feel as if I'm just on a diet. I know I have to be patient and just continue to work through this phase until I have reached the right restriction.

What was your experience prior to your fills after surgery?

I was hungry too. My doctor is a little different though, he did not expect weight loss until after I got a couple fills, he said some of his patients actually gain weight during that time. I was able to have something to eat whenever I felt hungry. I ate my three small meals per day and if my stomach growled between meals I would have a little Protein and even with the extra eating I still lost a little during that time.

Your first fill should help a little but it may take more than one to really start getting results. Hang in there, itt will get better soon!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
