Any Feb.5th bandsters?

Recommended Posts

Hello - I was banded Feb. 5th:tongue2: I am going back to work tomorrow, which is great because I love my job! I had an infection at the incision sites and have been taking an antibiotic. I am only a little sore now and did not take any pain meds today:thumbup: I am on the pureed food diet -which is not great but not horrible and have lost 2 lbs since surg and 22 in month pre-op.

My biggest concern at this point is that I cannot seem to get it all in. I am to drink 64 oz of liquid, but not eat 15 mins before or 1 hr after each meal, incl Snacks, so when am i supposed to sip that much? Its kinda weird getting used to, but I will manage:)

Good luck to you, how are you doing?

I was banded on the 5th and am also going back to work tomorrow. I'm with you on getting in all the Water. I haven't been successful at that yet because I forget and then I'm hungry so I have to stop drinking 30 minutes before and then it takes me so long to eat/drink and then I have to wait an hour after. I'm sure that I will settle into a routine but it's hard right now to do what I should.

I was banded Feb 5th. I wish I was having a good time like the 2 listed above. I feel like a swallowed a whole apple all the time and it is just sitting there. It is pain and pressure right under my breast bone. I feel it all the time but sometimes it is worse. Has anyone ever (before they were banded) swallowed too fast and not chewed enough? You get that weird feeling of pain and pressure and then it passes? Well, I get that and it passes but then I always feel the pressure. I am going to the surgeon tomorrow. When I called them earlier in the week they said that it was normal and it would pass. I did have some pretty violent dry heaving when 2 and 3 days from surgery and I am wondering if that is why I feel like this. Maybe the swelling didn't go down as fast as it should because of the vomitting? The surgeon said that the vomitting would not hurt my band but I am wondering if that is why I am feeling like this all the time. I hope to get some answers tomorrow.

Julie:confused:

I was banded Feb 6ht so I guess I am close enough.

I am on a 2 week liquid diet after surgery and then 1 week of puree and 1 week of Mushies...yum. So far I have no problems drinking or getting my fluids down. I have had some tightness in my chest but that seems to have gone away today.

Surgery day I was at 371, the day I came home I was at 379. I am now at 365 and feeling good. I can now sleep on my port side with no problems.

All in all so far so good.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
