I have a history of Migraines so not sure if what's going on is normal or not. I came out of surgery with one (okay - anesthesia does that sometimes). Weather changed and I got a bad one (normal). They are just hanging on. Anyone else have problems with migraines being more frequent, longer after banding? Maybe it's just my body detoxing? I only drank one or two Diet Pepsis per month before but I did drink iced tea and I have only had a few sips of tea so my caffeine intake has gone down. Just wanted to check before I have to go back to another doctor for my head.

It may be detox from the caffeine and also my doctor told me that a new study came out that increasing Calcium ( which when I drank 5 or 6 dietcokes a day, I am sure that what little calcium I consumed was leached out of my body) has been shown to decrease Migraines. Yipee, hope that your Migraine is better soon. Best of luck.

I used to have 10-12 Migraines a month. They responded to medication but still......

However, since I had surgery I have not had a single one, even with my TOM. I have no explanation for this, just an observation.

HOpefully after a few more days you wont have any more. I really empathize with you on this as I know they can be very debilitating.

It's funny you ask about this because my husband and I were just talking about this today! I have had Migraines since 3rd grade and take a daily medication to prevent them. I was also a caffeine addict before surgery and have done good in the 4 weeks since I've had the band. (I've had 2 ice teas and 2 cups of coffee total and the coffee left me so jittery I couldn't stand it!!!) My husband looked up caffeine addiction online and found an article that said caffeine causes your body to produce extra spinal Fluid. After a while, your body doesn't produce as much because it relies on the caffeine to create it. If you quit cold turkey, you no longer have the caffeine to create spinal fluid and you run low because your body "forgets" to produce enough and so you have a headache. After a while, this stops because your body kicks in again. I thought that was an interesting idea....I've had an increase in my migraines since surgery as well and it's not fun. In fact, I have one building now, but we have a storm system about to come through the area, so that's probably the cause. I'm a human barometer!!! Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
