Stuck In The Morning!

Recommended Posts

Hi all I was banded almost a week ago...tomarrow! I have a question!

I feel like I need to burp from when I woke up this morning but can't! I feel as though something may be stuck but I don't think I have ate anything lst night that could get stuck!!! I had some soupy potatoe Soup for dinner at about 5pm!

I tried to drink some Water first thing and still have the feeling! I have no pain or no extra saliva it just feels different and I may be a little nascious. Could this just be because some people are tight in the morning? I am pretty nervous at this point and afraid to eat anything for breakfast! Has anyone experienced this ?

Help

Carrie~

Sorry, I have had that feeling once in a while in the morning. You are right, your band is tighter in the morning, as least that is what I have and what I have heard. Warm liquids help to open it up a little. You are just experiencing some of what you may feel when you get adjusted.

Good luck and welcome to the bandland...

Sorry! Just found you! Yes, tight in the morning is the case for many many bandsters, but at a week out from surgery, you are more likely just experiencing some post-op swelling. Was this your first attempt at potato Soup? Did you puree the chunks out of it? I know you said it was soupy, but you may be better off with a thicker soup with the lumps of potato blended out? Keep it liquid till it goes away. That burpy feeling means you need to burp...I doubt anything is stuck, like you said, but if the potato soup caused your upper stomach to have to churn to get it down, well, then you may have caused a slight case of swelling. That's what I think anyway. Does this sound like the right diagnosis? If it doesn't ring true for you, please ignore. It may be something else, although I couldn't guess what. At any rate, staying liquid and small sips is in order no matter what. Congrats on your banding! Hope that helps.

Hi Carrie -

I just had the surgery Aug. 3, and I experienced the same thing you're describing. Felt fine the first couple of days, then I had a huge heartburn/gas problem in my chest. I took Gas-X like crazy, but it didn't help, and I was afraid to eat anything. This started Saturday night and continued through Wednesday (one week post-op.) I didn't know if it was a reaction to something I ate or what. Today, though, it's completely gone, and I'm able to eat again with no problems. I read through my post-op instructions again, and it does mention increased gas a few days after surgery, so apparently that's what it was. I feel good today, and I've lost 11 lbs. already.

Hope this helps. If you want to talk any more, e-mail me privately, OK? Best of luck to you.

Hi all I was banded almost a week ago...tomarrow! I have a question!

I feel like I need to burp from when I woke up this morning but can't!

I had the exact same thing and was told by my Dr. it was caused from swelling in the diaphram area as the swelling goes down the burps will come out. They did!

Oh yeah! If you have tried Gas-X, maybe switch to Tums? Tums seemed to help me better when I was having some reflux problmes. My issue wasn't so much gas but the gas created my the swelling and, in turn, the acid. Just a thought.

Also, do a protien drink or CIB just to get some calories in. I'm so glad to see you so cautious. That's good! But you do need some nutrition. Just keep your sips small. Keep us posted!!

Carrie,

If you are one week post op maybe you are adding creamed Soups to your diet too soon. I did Protein Drinks for 2 weeks before I started adding other things. My doctor said anything that goes through a straw but I did the 3 Protein drinks, coffee, Water, and maybe some broth in between if I wanted something. Take it easy for another week. When you start adding things back go slow. My dr. said to take a small bite, wait a couple of minutes to see if it was gonna bother you. So far I only have trouble out of bread and rice. Took a bite and it hurt so I decided I did not need it.

Sorry you had to experience that. I just saw your post. More than likely it was gas? Right. I mean I had gas for aprox 2 weeks after surgery & your just at one week. Also I was on liquid for 2 weeks after for the healing time & than the Thrid week was able to puree my thicker soupds like potatoe. I would step back a bit from those thicker Soups even if you did puree them. Just another week. Your swelling will be much better by than. I hope your felling better. Congrats on getting your Band!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
