Okay, so my surg. is thursday and i'm having some pre-surg jitters! It doesnt help that i check out of the hospital on friday the 13th!! If my surg. was that day, i'd have to reschedule!

Help! I'm getting so freaked out!

Do your best to relax. I had never had surgery ever prior to having my band placed and I got myself so worked up and anxious. I cried in the waiting room I was so scared.

All for nothing. It was a piece of cake compared to how I blew it up in my mind. The pain was manageable. The outcome has been positive. Do your best to relax. For most people its far far easier than they ever imagined.

Ok first off just remember the most important thing, why you are doing this. I know surgery is scary but it will be over before you know it. I've only had one other surgery in my life and it was on my knee so I kinda know what to expect. And don't think about the friday the 13th thing. That is just a superstition and they only way superstitions have their power is if you believe in them (I know it sounds corny lol but just trying to help ) Think of it as the first day of you becoming the person you've always dreamed of. I'm a couple days after you and I'm more excited than nervous now. You will do just fine and I promise you, you will look back at this realize it wasn't that bad . Good luck to you and stay in touch.

I mean, i know deep down that i'm going to be fine. I've had oral surg, under the same anistesia (sp?). Its just such a HUGE deal. I'm excited, but scared, happy but nervious. I think everyone goes through these emotions  Thank you!

Everyone does go through these emotions and its totally natural. I guess with me I just want to keep in my head the positive instead of the negative you know? I guess my jitters are gone now because i got to the point that this is it my last chance to do something for myself. Again good luck

I was nervous too, because I was fearful that I might fail the band. The fear of the unknown plays a wicked head game.

While being prepped for the band procedure, I thought to myself, what would happen if I just escaped this place. I will just run away and not go through with the procedure.

But no matter how fearful I was, I really wanted a chance to have a healthier new life. I am no spring chicken and I knew that my health problems would only get worse with age, so it was now or never.

So I did have the procedure and I am happy to say that I am losing weight, I have lots of energy, and I am training for a marathon.

Yes, it is scary, but it is so worth it. I would do it all over again!

Good luck!

I know how you feel... my surgery is Friday the 13th. I'm really nervous but excited. I think what's scariest for me is that I didn't know my surgery date until yesterday. I have been preparing for weeks, kind of. But as soon as my insurance got cleared, they we're like, "we can do it this week". So, you're not in this boat alone.

My surgery is a month out and I am already nervous and excited. I am sure as time goes on it will build up more. YOu start to wonder if it is necessary and think about all the what if's................I know it will be fine but the build up in your mind is the worst part. I can't wait until I know and don't have to wonder about all thedetails of surgery.

I hope all went well for those who are getting their surgery today.

But, OMG! My surgery is tomorrow! I'm driving to L.A. area after work today. I'm about to pee myself I'm so nervous. I can't stop shaking my legs... err!

My surgery is tomorrow too, in LA, but I live here, so I am sure the jitters will hit tomorrow around 1 as we drive to Beverly Hills  I got in at 2:30, surgery at 3:30....good luck to you!

I'm nervous too - I'm checking in on Friday (13th) and my surgery is 14th - Valentine's Day!?! Yup. Howz that for date combo?

I'm nervous as hell - mostly about the pain. Secondly about the possiblity of failing and letting everyone (especially me) down.

Good luck to you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
