Dr. William O'Malley, Highland Hospital, Rochester, NY

Recommended Posts

Hi. I was just wondering if anyone has had the LB placed by Dr. William O'Malley at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY. I have heard that he is an excellent surgeon (By my PCP), and was just wondering if any of you had Dr. O'Malley.

I have my Informational Seminar on March 26.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks, Susan

Hi Susan!

I am also looking into this procedure with the same doctor. I haven't gone to the seminar yet, am doing some research first. How did it go?

I have had surgery at Rochester General Hospital with Dr. Anthony DiBenedetto. He is a fantastic surgeon and is very vigilant with follow up. I was lap banded 2/09 and had some difficulties, he was always there to help me through the tough times. I recommend him to anyone in Western NY. He has patients coming from all over to have him do there surgery.

I just had a seminar at rgh with dr. Anthony d. He seemed great and right to the point. I liked him and I think hands down I will go with him, though he is taking July off so it might be awhile before I get in.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
