*slim* 2 Posted February 10, 2009 Okay, I am not the smartest when it comes to workout equipment. I am trying to buy an exercise bike. I am confused about the difference in the workouts for a recumbent bike and an upright bike? I don't want to buy something that isn't going to allow a good workout. Would someone mind helping me choose?
Jachut 487 Posted February 10, 2009 Personally, I'd buy a spin bike. You can get great DVD's such as spinervals to use with them, or you can use something like Cardio Coach. The racing position that the bike puts you in engages your core and gives it a good workout too. You can do a lot more with a spin bike than you can an ordinary upright bike. Recumbent bikes just dont grab me, to me, they're something to consider if you have a back injury or similar issue, but you get a better workout on a spin bike because it recruits your upper body too, it will suit you for far longer. *slim* 2 Posted February 10, 2009 Thanks. I hadn't even thought about a spin bike. I will do a search for one right now.
