glamischick 0 Posted February 9, 2009 Can anyone tell me what your pre-op diet consist of and how did it turn out? As far as how much did you lose and over how long did it take you to get there? Please try to be as detailed as possible. Thank you.
Jodi_620 37 Posted February 10, 2009 I was on two weeks liquid Protein pre-op. I think I lost around 13 pounds but there was no specific weight loss requirement, the point was to shrink the liver in preparation for surgery so there was no focus on how much I lost during this time only on what I ate (or I should say what I did not eat). It consisted of Protein shakes, powders, chicken or beef broth, Jello, sugar free popsicles, Crystal Light.

Blaze21 5 Posted February 10, 2009 I did the Optifast for 1 week. It consisted of 5 shakes/bars per day. I was allowed to add fruit to the shakes to make them thicker. I lost about 6-7 lbs.
bumble-bee 0 Posted February 13, 2009 Every surgeon is different so he/she will tell you what is required of you. My doctor's pre-op diet is two Protein Shakes (breakfast and lunch) plus one frozen "diet" dinner like Weight Watchers or Lean Cuisine. That's 13 days and then the 14th day is Clear Liquids. I lost 9 lbs.
lil_c_25 0 Posted February 13, 2009 I am on a clear liquid diet for 2 weeks before my surgery.. My surgery is Feb 18th.. I have 5 days left.. My surgeon recommends this for his patients before his surgeries.
txspatter 0 Posted March 5, 2009 I have completed the first of two weeks on the pre-op liquid diet. I have lost 13 pounds as of today. I'm able to have Campbell's Healthy Request Soups, sugar free pudding and Jello, sf popsicles, Protein Shakes and juices. I find I do far better if I get at least 40 grams of Protein down by noon. Otherwise, after day 4...it became 'ok'...I'm already loving the lost weight and a slightly different feel in the clothes! That's something I would notice this soon, but it keeps me focused on the right things! I have my banding on March 12th.
