Just curious what you ate after the surgery. How long on mushies? When/or did you ever eat semi-normal again? I'd love to hear the different stories please! TIA! Andrea

I can eat anything now just lots less of it - I do not like the fill days - 2 days Clear Liquids - 2 days liquids - one mushy day and then regular--- I can get a fill every two weeks --- so far, I have had two fills

I was eating regular foods less than 2 weeks after surgery -- well on exactly the 15 th day I was on reg foods-- and I was following the doctor's orders

I'm 3 weeks post banding. I'm now approved for regular food and I'm getting my first fill in two days. My doctor has a prescribed diet and time frame, but honestly it gets adjusted a little depending on how you are healing and handling food.

It sounds like the weight loss can really vary from person to person.

Is the liquid stage the hardest? Are you hungry alot?

It was about 6 days post-op until I felt any hunger at all. I was banded on Jan.27th, and was supposed to be on clear liquids for 2 weeks. I made it about 6 days. I moved myself to full liquids (or at least cream soups) after that. When I met with my doc on the 7th day, he said that was fine. I am supposed to be on full liquids until tomorrow and then I can go to mushies and progress to soft. I am on mushies and soft stuff now.

You will find that doctors orders vary drastically. You just have to know whats right for you and of course talk it over with your doc or clinical staff.

Because I dont have a restriction yet, my meals dont really give me a full feeling. I just have to stop and ask myself if I am hungry. If the answer is no, I stop.

Today for bfast I had half a container of lite strawberry yogurt with some grapenuts sprinkled on it. I had SF strawberry applesauce for a snack, and had taco bell refried Beans for lunch.

Tonight I am going to have my first grilled chicken breast since before the preop diet. I am so excited!

I had 3 full days of all liquids, Water, broth, and 100% juices mixed with Water and 10 calorie or less drinks like Fuze and crystal light. I am now in the middle of a 2 week advance liquid diet I guess is the best way to put it. I have heavier Soups and more liquids. Until maybe yesterday (I had surgery on 1/30/09) I have not been hungry or really craving food seriously at all but yesterday was a longgg day work wise and I didn't plan well so i tired mashed canned sweet potatoes I had about 1 cup and it felt fine. I also tired oatmeal yesterday and today seems to slip right through I didnt realize until I checked my food list oatmeal is really for next week. but I make it watery like Soup anyway. Aside from that I am having protien shakes (pre mixed and from powder) but I have had it up to HERE with the shakes they are making me sick at this point same with the Soup. :tongue_smilie:I have fat free yogurt and sugar free pudding and pops and fudge pops but it is all getting old at this point.

I have a transitional meeting on Thursday and thats when we move on to the next phase of mushy foods and soup meats and fish I really cant wait to taste tuna again lol:thumbup:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
