Desperatly trying to get back on track. . .

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery three years ago, and exactly two years to getting down to my goal weight I find out I was pregant. I had to have my band emptied and start all over again once I had my son. Good thing I didn't gain all my weight completely back. None the less, I have had my fills and am now experiencing horrible spells of vomiting, so bad that Water won't even stay down. I'm not sure what has caused this but I'm wondering if my band has slipped, all I know is that it's a horrible feeling :)

I had to go to a different Doctor to get my fills because my surgeon had left the practice (I really don't care for this new doc at all) I miss doctor Thomas and the old staff. Dr. Thomas has come back to seeing patients in Houston but I don't have an appointment with him until next Tuesday 02/17, that's if I don't die before then (geeze louise) I feel horrible. I am thinking about just going to the other surgeon and just having him empty my band completely and starting over with Dr. Thomas. Over the weekend I wasn't able to even hold water down, which I am desperatly craving! I got on this website and took the advice to try some warm tea, so far it's staying down lets see how long it lasts. . .

I would call the other doc immediately and schedule an unfill. I like your idea of starting fresh with your new doctor.

Will Dr. Thomas use fluro? That would give you piece of mind as to the placement of your band.

Congratulations on the baby! First one for you?

Thank you for the response. I did go yesterday and had my band emptied. I lost 11lbs from last Monday to yesterday. The doctor's response to me was "most woman would be jealous of you losing 11lbs so fast:cursing: Okay I want to lose weight but not like that. So anyways next Tuesday I get to see Dr. Thomas and hopefully start over. I'm so excited  to get back on track. I'm trying to eat light and stay away from the junk so I don't gain the 11lbs back.

That's great! I am so attached to my doctor, I can only imagine how I would feel in your shoes.

Tuesday isn't that far away. Hopefully you'll be able to salvage some of the weight you lost. Either way, you know you'll be losing again after the fill, so you are on the right track!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
