Recommended Posts

Okay Iam still doing my research and this is another Drs name that has come up. He does surgery at Limarp surgery center in Tijuana. I would love to talk to anyone who has used him for the lap band.

Thanks Bernadette

This is another Betancourt doc, though I believe he's out on his own now. If you search his name, you should find plenty of threads about him.

People who have used him that you can PM include:

NataliesMommy

Leeann Chandler (her husband was the one banded but she's got the account here)

I couldn't find him as being registered with the ASBS. If that is the case, I suggest you look elsewhere. That is like, the bare minimum ANY band doc should have to even have *consideration.*

MacMadame,

According to LIMARP, he is on Staff there, and has never been in Betancourt's court. Geez MacMdame..again you do not have your facts straight.. I think you will find it was dr. Jesus Lopez.... Also there is Lopez Corvala, I think you will find many Dr. Lopez in TJ...

And the truth will rule!!!

Okay I have done alot of Google searches for this Dr and still can't find any information about him. At his office they say that he has been doing gastric surgeries for 20 years, and that he trained Dr Almanza and Dr Pompa. I sure wish it was easier to search for things without having to just believe what people say. I will just have to keep looking.

I was banded by Dr Guillermo Lopez on Januarty 16th, 2009. I went through Bariatric Group.com. My experience with both groups was more than I ever expected. It was first class in every area and I could not be any more satisfied than I was. I would highly recommend these groups for any surgery you might consider. :tongue2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
