These Crazy Raw Emotions

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for Lap band surgery on March 5. I starts Opti Fast light this week, and plan to do opti fast full for two weeks before the surgery. The only thing that I have left to do is get a CPap for my apnea so I can get clearance from the Pulminologist, but that should happen in the next week or so.

I have dieted before. I have eaten very little for short periods of time and lost weight, only to put it back on again. But this time, since I am only really drinking during the day, I am finding it so obvious that I eat for emotional reasons. I didnt know how badly I was doing that, until I couldn't. I havent cried this much since I was going through puberty.

In any case, Hi. Nice to meet you all. I have been enjoying reading your stories, questions and advice and I am looking forward to getting to know you all.

Elise

Hi EliseSara. Welcome. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I was the same way during my pre-op diet. I was either grumpy or crying. I'm pretty much of a crybaby anyway... so it was bad. I too was/am an emotional eater. When I couldn't reach for food to help me through a rough time.... didn't know how to handle it. Just try to keep busy, stay focused on the reason you are having your surgery, and think about how good you will feel when it's over and you are on your way to a healthier, happier life. Keep reading and asking questions. If I can do anything to help you, let me know. I'm a good listener and I have lots of tissues. Becky

Thanks you Becky. So far it has been much harder than I thought it would be. I figured joining this site might help. Hubby is away this week, so I am alone with the kids and my emotions.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
