Peanutband 0 Posted February 8, 2009 When is your first fill. My first fill is 2/17. I am getting worried about it. Has anyone have their fill yet? How is it? Did it hurt?

I'll be interested in someone's answer myself. Sorry I can't help you, Peanutband. Lena

Embrace 11 Posted February 10, 2009 My surgery was Jan. 27. I was supposed to go for a fill on March 11 but I'll be out of town. I bumped the appointment to March 18. I'm nervous for some reason. My port is tender still and the thought of them poking around around it with a needle doesn't thrill me. On the other hand, I can eat more than I expected. Don't get me wrong. It's not like I'm eating the way I did before. It's just about 1 cup per meal. I'm getting around 350 calories a day, I think. I'll probably be a good candidate for the fill. MaureenJohnson 0 Posted February 10, 2009 When is your first fill. My first fill is 2/17. I am getting worried about it. Has anyone have their fill yet? How is it? Did it hurt? Hi- I was banded on Jaunary 8th and had my first fill yesterday. I am in Germany so I think things are a little different. In every blog I have read, no one had any pain. I did. It hurt when they pushed the needle through the skin and muscle but stopped after it entered the port. I hate to be graphic but that is the way it happened. After that it didn't hurt at all. The doctor put in 4.5 ml of Fluid. I could feel my stomach being squeezed. That was weird but it didn't hurt. After drinking the liquid to make sure that there was still room for food to go down I was done. The whole process took around 5 minutes. Mine was done under x-ray so the Fluid I had to drink tasted bad. I was very hungry before the proceedure, but not after. I skipped lunched and just had a very small dinner of meat sauce and not the spagetti. I am too scard to eat until I feel restriction because I don't want the side effects. My weight loss has been a steady three pounds a week which is my goal. I am curious to see if the fill makes any difference. Please don't be worried. It is just one more thing we need to make this band work and to have long term SUCCESSFUL weight loss. I have no idea how to update my ticker:mad2:. Another victim of technology. voiceomt2002 4 Posted February 10, 2009 According to what they told me, the syringe goes through your scar tissue, and there should be little to no pain involved.

I'm sorry it hurt, Maureen. Thanks for keeping it real for us. Just click on your ticker itself. That will take you to your sign-in page. Enter your password or PIN, then check the little box for updating your weight loss. Now hit Enter. You'll be taken to the correct screen, but you do have to scroll down to make your changes. hltwhite 1 Posted February 10, 2009 If I could make a suggestion -- I have found a lot of valuable information by going to the december 2008 banders forum instead of the jan '09 all the time. I read their posts and it gives a lot of insight. Most of them have already had their first fills so it might be a good idea to go read their posts for some insight! It has been great for me to "read ahead" from people who are a few weeks ahead of me in this process! Hope it will work for you too!

Donnainva 0 Posted February 10, 2009 I was banded on 1/14 and had my fill about an hour ago. Basically the same as what Maureen said except no pain except the sting of a needle going into my skin. My port is about 1/2" above my largest incision under my left breast. The barium tasted horrible, but I watched the whole thing on the screen. I'm on liquids for 12-24 hours, then a day of mushy then back to normal. 5cc's in a 10cc band (I think)

DaMomb 1 Posted February 10, 2009 I had my first fill on the 3rd under x-ray. I was a little worried too.... but honestly, after everything else, this was a total breeze. I highly recommend having it done under x-ray if possible, because it gets you to the green zone quicker and, if you are a visual learner like me, then actually seeing how small the stoma is will truly help you to "get it". I pushed it after my surgery because I couldn't feel anything and food didn't seem to bother me. After my fill, I had no desire to push it. It has been a week and I am still being very very careful. I am not to the green zone with this fill, but I got 7cc which seemed like a lot for a first fill. I have a 10 cc band. Anyway, I definitely can't eat like I could before, but still can eat more than 3 oz without getting full. I do stay full forever tho. Good luck to you and don't worry. Hope everything goes well for you!
