My doctor told me it was gas. I had it in my left chest, under my collar bone. It was aweful. I would think I was doing fine, then when I would eat or drink the pain would come back. Sometimes taking my breath away. I would try to lay down but that was uncomfortable. I had this pain for 7 weeks after my surgery. I was in tears and felt like I couldn't do it. I promise it will go away. I took gasX all the time. It seemed to help a little but not much. The gas just has to work its self out of your body.

My doctor told me that it was not my band causing this....he did a ct scan. But, it has to be. I mean everytime i swallow about 5 seconds later i am in severe pain until the liquid goes down...it will one month monday.....i did have a hernia repair the same time as the lapband, i dont know if that has anything to do with it.....i am always nauseated, and gagging and i get that thick slimy spit build up in my mouth like if i would have eatin to much or something is stuck, but i am on strickly liquids the only thing i have eating that had some consistency to it was mashed potatoes. I have no fill yet. I am at my wits end.

oh my gosh, so sorry that you have to deal with this. I would start documenting how you feel every single time you eat or drink something. Share that info with your doctor the next time you call him. Hopefully things will start to get better soon. Just hang in there.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
