Anyone use Muscle Milk for protein?

Recommended Posts

I needed something quick on the go today so I picked up a carton of Muscle Milk light - it was SSSOOO good! I'm just not sure that it's worth the calories. Anyone use this product for quick on-the-go Protein?

yes... alot of the Proteins are nasty!!! but this is one of the few that taste very good!!! i think it is so worth the calories... whats the point in drinking it if you dont like it???

but you may want to try the muscle milk lite... im not sure if they make these in the ready to drink (rtd) cartons but i know for sure you can stop into any GNC or online and pick up the powder... make sure you get a shaker cup... it mixes with Water or milk (only if you can have or need the extra calories)...

hope this helps

My doctor who did my surgery actually recommended muscle milk lite as part of my Protein intake. I am not a chocolate fan in general but I love the french vanilla, and strawberries and cream. I am really picky about what I drink. Esp when it comes to Protein Drinks. I found mine at Walmart in the health and nutrition isle and they are the ready made drinks. They are a good source of protein.

Muscle milk lite is the only Protein Drink I can tolerate. It is one that my nutritionist recommends. They now have a chocolate mint RTD that has 100 calories and 0 sugar.

Please don't drink Muscle Milk. My good friend's son was using Muscle Milk to "bulk up" and he almost died from it! He was very lean and the Muscle Milk starting eating away his muscles. His heart, kidneys, and other muscles all started to fail. He was in the hospital for months and in rehabilitation for a year. This was a healthy 17-year old. The doctors told my friend they've seen several such instances of a bad reaction to Muscle Milk.

I'm very sorry for your son's health. What possibly could have been the cause from muscle milk? I really do not think it contains any ingredients that different from other Protein drinks. Perhaps people are trying to use them in place of other nutrition and working out excessively would be the only reason I could think of.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. Grandma, I will consider the risks before making it a daily routine.

I did do a google news search on "Muscle Milk" and didnt find any bad news....

I will check the ingredients against the Isopure I'm currently using and make sure that I'm getting what I need.

I prefer Atkins, Muscle Milk has a slight aftertaste and a few too many carbs for me. All in all it's good though.

I have half a tub of the powdered chocolate MM on my counter right now. It does not mix very well, even in the blender. There is always to many crunchies left. The calories are way up there too, and I don't think they are worth it too me. I do use some Atkins RTD occasionally after a fill though. I don't think Protein Shakes are the way to go for me personally. They don't keep me full at all. I would rather chew my calories than drink them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?
