Liquid Calcium Citrate - brands??

Recommended Posts

Hi Friends -

Im just past 2 weeks post-op and know how important the Vitamins are. However, I CANT stomach the chewable Calcium pills that I got from the dr. office. Im looking for a liquid Calcium brand that is comparable to the nasty chalky stuff I have.

If anyone has any suggestion of a brand of liquid calcium that they are using and can tolerate I would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks so much!

Have you tried the Citrical Petites? You take 2 three times a day which is a pain, but they are small (like m and m sized) and will "go down" for most everyone. I got them at drugstore.com but they are probably available at local drugstores.

HI!

I havent tried anything except for the HUGE chalky stuff I got at the office. I just ordered something online called Tropical Oasis liquid Calcium. It had some pretty good reviews, so I thought that at $12/bottle, it was worth a try!

I'll report back after it arrives and let ya know how it is....

Hope you're well -

I finally have some restriction and am enjoying actually NEEDING all the rules I've been trying to follow...like chew well, no liquids with meals, etc :cursing: Very happy!

I fortunately don't have trouble taking pills, though, so no liquid drugs for me! (especially since I can't drink beer now! LOL)

How are you? Doing great, it sounds like!

I also use the Citracal calcium citrate "Petites" and they work great. I get them at Walgreens. I take them one at a time and have had no problems. Sometimes it takes trial and error to find what works best for you.

I also HATE the chewable Calcium tablets! Of course, I stocked up on them before surgery, so I have a HUGE bottle. I started crushing them up to powder, and then swallowing it with a small sip of water--that seems to work for me, and keeps it from coating my mouth and sticking in my teeth.

Can't wait until I can just swallow a regular-sized pill again!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
