Cost of Hospital - Lourdes Med Ctr Willingboro NJ

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just wanted to share. I got a copy of the hospital bill sent to the insurance company from my surgery and it was $54,000 !!!!! This was for the lapband and a one night stay.

I was pre-approved, so I'm hoping the insurance company will cover it. I'm just praying there is no mistake and I get that bill in the mail!

Holy Moly thats insane!!! My son was born in 1997, and was very sick when he was born. He spent a week in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (At WestChester Medical Center in Vallhala NY) and believe me it was intense in there!! The hospitals billing department must have all been smoking crack because they sent ME to collections for his hospital bill! $17,800.00. The bill had been paid by my insurance company...I got a copy of the check and the cashed date .. everything I needed to go to war with them...and I did... Two months later, I got A SECOND NOTICE FROM A DIFFERENT COLLECTION AGENCY for the same account. Apparently they sent me to collections twice. I contacted them and said how stupid are you?? I was mad, I usually don't treat people like that. I sent them all the proof of payment a SECOND time and haven't heard anything about it again. But I guess I am astounded at the amount of your bill. How could it cost more for the lap band than it does to take care of a sick baby in ICU?? WOW!!! Your band must be made out of solid gold...your so lucky :) Lemme know if you need someone to go to war with you! Im good at it!!

Have a great day!

WOW Karen, thats incrediable, for just one day???

In 2001 I had my DD at Hackensack. I was in for 8 days, wound up having a c section, blah blah blah.... got the bill $49,000 not including the doctors charge.

I think what happens is, if the hospital is a participating hospital then they send the bill out with what they would normally charge, but in reality they only get what was agreed upon with the insurance company which might be (bogus example $20,000).

In anycase YIKES !!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
