New Banders - Problems transitioning to new Foods

Recommended Posts

Hi I was just banded a couple of weeks ago, I have been on liquids until now. Today I tried some of the foods recommended by my Dr. for the puree diet. First time I tried a non-liquid, it got stuck - how do you get unstuck, Water won't even go down - PB, but still stuck. I am starting to question my decision, not sure I am understand what its suppose to feel like, what am I gonna feel like when I get my first fill in 2 weeks?

Hi Roirat. Here are some questions: What did you try to eat? How quickly did you eat it? What were you eating before (soup, yogurt, etc)?

You should call your doctor tomorrow and tell him what happened. He needs to know; and you don't want to wait until the weekend need to get in touch with him. He may have put a fill in and need to remove it; he may want you to stay on liquids...whatever, tell him.

I was banded on 1/20. The first thing I tried didn't taste that good, but it didn't get stuck. The other things that went down pretty easy were mashed sweet potato, scrambled egg (soft) and roasted chicken dark meat (the real juicy ones from the grocery store) that I pureed with chicken stock. Everything had to be a real baby food type consistency, but a tad bit less liquified

GOOD LUCK.

today I experienced what would happen if I do not thoroughly chew my food. I have been on a full liqiud diet for 1 week pre-op and a little over a week post-op. I was banded on 1/27. I was serving my family dinner this eveninf and thought that it wouldn't hurt to have a french fry (baked). MISTAKE!!! the food just laid there and felt horrible. That french fry was not even on my current diet. I had to take several sips of Water to get it to go down. It was awful and an important lesson learned.

You need to tell your doctor what you did...NOT because you must confess your "sins", but because you may have harmed yourself eating this soon post banding. Probably you are ok but it would be safest to call tomorrow, let them know what you ate, when, and how it felt, and let them decide.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
