Low BMI in OH in the 12 step program

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have started the 12 step program with the Cleveland Clinic.. I weigh 205lbs height 5'3".. I have a BMI 35.1.. I go for testing Feb 25, 2009.. I currently take prevacid, atenolol, and in Nov 2007 was diagnosed with sleep apnea 4.5..

I have Anthem Blue Cross & Sheild.. they do not require a pre diet program.. Does anyone think I have a good chance of the doctor and insuance approving me? I will be so disappointed going this far and then being told no..

Any information will be helpful:bananalama:

I think it really all depends on what your insurance considers as a comorbidity. I would call them or research online to find the exact requirements.

At 5'3 and 205 pounds, I think your BMI would be closer to 40 than 35. You would actually be only 20 pounds shy of being at a 40 BMI where comorbidities may not be necessary.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
