Spotting ... 3 weeks post op ... TMI maybe?

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys, Sorry if this is TMI.

I was banded on Jan. 12th. One week later I started my period and had a semi normal one.

Then a couple of days ago I spotted and that was it. Then last night I woke up feeling really sick and went to the bathroom and I was spotting again. I thought it was going to be an actual period, but, this AM nothing else.

I am / was really crampy feeling.

So, is this normal? Anyone else is the same boat?

Thanks guys...

HI, I just wanted to drop in and let you know you are not alone. I was banded on the 15th, and I have been spotting off and on since the 29th of Jan. I am actually still spotting. Nothing that requires a pad, but more or less I see it when I go to the bathroom. I have had the bloating and PMS thingy going on, but still no actual flow. If my period doesn't come completely on by the 10th, I will definitely speak with my GYN and the surgeon. I never thought I would say this but, I just really want my cycle to just come and be done. I wish us both luck.

Dawn:blushing:

I had a similiar experience. I had an IUD put in about 4 months before surgery. That makes my periods lighter, but 2 weeks long instead of 1 week.

The day of surgery, I started my period. It continued for 4 weeks! I asked my surgeon if the band was related and he said no and that I should check with my OBGYN and make sure I don't have an ectopic pregnancy.

I am not pregnant and am now 2 months post op. My last period was back to normal.

I am having issues like this too. I have been spotting off and on for a few weeks. I have pcos and don't usually have periods. So it is strange. My gyn doesnt seem concerned. Let us know if you find out anything.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
